The country's first two FA-50PH "Fighting Eagle"
light-interim fighter aircraft will be bidding Philippine Air Force (PAF)
commander Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado farewell as he is set to formally retire on
Wednesday.
Delgado, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of
1982, will be relinquishing command of the 20,000-strong PAF after reaching the
mandatory military retirement age of 56.
The FA-50PHs will flying over Fernando Air Base, Lipa City
This was confirmed by PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya in
a message to the PNA.
"It's a tradition in the PAF and a time where the
Commanding General PAF reviews his troops and capability the last time before
retirement," he said
"It's also an opportunity for pilots to gain
proficiency in formation flying which they do without ceremonies in their
designated training areas as programmed," Canaya further said.
Two of the country's first FA-50PH jet aircraft arrived at
Clark Air Base, Angeles City, Pampanga last November 28.
These two are part of the 12-plane order from Korea
Aerospace Industries which amounted to PHP18.9 billion.
