From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 17): Belmonte dons reserve commander's rank

House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. was formally donned his naval commander's rank during simple ceremonies in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City Thursday morning.

Present during the donning ceremonies were Armed Forces of the Philippines chief-of-staff Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri and AFP deputy chief-of-staff for reservists and retirees Rear Admiral Aurelio A. Rabusa, Jr.

This took place at the Hall of Flags of GHQ Building, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Belmonte is now a commander in the Philippine Navy Reserve Force.

The former served as Quezon City mayor from 2001 to 2010 during which time he was selected as the Most Outstanding Mayor of the Philippines by the Local Government Leadership Awards.

Belmonte's first stint as congressman took place in 1992.

Before he became mayor, Belmonte was elected Representative of the 4th Congressional District of Quezon City, and held the position for three consecutive terms.

Belmonte was Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2001, and also served as House Minority Leader. In his first two terms, he was the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations.
