ROXAS CITY, Capiz  – Series of activities have been lined up by the Philippine Army to mark its 119th Philippine Army anniversary celebration in the Visayas.

Included in said activities was the photo static display held March 13, at the Robinson’s place in Roxas City, which depict the Army’s core purpose of serving the people and securing the land.

Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson, spokesperson of the 3rd Infantry Division explained that the various audio-visual presentations were shown to the public to highlight the Army’s transformation into a credible, reliable, responsive, more capable and more professional troop in line with its Transformation Roadmap.

Also showcased were its capabilities, weapons, mobility assets and equipment through tarpaulin exhibits, he said.

“We will also have a similar event at SM City in Iloilo City on March 21 to22, this time showcasing the modern equipment of the Philippine Army in war fighting and Disaster Response Operations,” Tiongson said.

The 3ID personnel and bike enthusiast in Capiz will also have an Army Anniversary Bike Tour which will start from Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan town to end at Baybay, Roxas City, on March 21.

The Bike Tour aims to bring the spirit of unity for peace and progress between the military and civilian and to promote cycling as a physical fitness and tourism activity, he said.

A Back-to-Camp fellowship with the Army retirees and veterans will likewise be held at 3ID headquarters, March 22, to foster close ties among the Army personnel and their dependents to include the veterans and retirees as members of one big “Army Family.”

On the other hand, 3ID Commander Brig. Gen. Harold Cabreros urged the public to be part of the celebration and witness the Army’s commitment to peace and development  as they are on their journey to a genuine reform and transformation.
