The Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) and Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA)-Southern Mindanao Regional Management Office facilitated the groundbreaking ceremony of two Quick Impact Projects (QIP) in Brgy Burias in Glan, Sarangani and Brgy Lupuken in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on March 13 and 14, 2015 respectively.
The beneficiary communities have identified Multi-Purpose Halls as their proposed projects which will serve as venue for trainings, assemblies, meetings and other important gatherings which can contribute to the development of the community. The proposed projects were identified during community consultations.
BDA SouthMin Regional Manager urged the beneficiaries to share their time and efforts for the realization of the project geared towards the holistic development of their communities. Representatives from BTC and JICA were present in the ceremony.
QIP, a partnership between the BTC and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), intend to benefit target Bangsamoro Communities following the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro on March 27, 2014.
Twenty sites are identified for the QIP implementation all over Mindanao. The BDA, the development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) takes charge in the social preparation of the communities.
QIP benefits not only Bangsamoro people but the Lumads and Christian Settlers as well. The Provincial Government of Sarangani expressed willingness to support QIP in the province.
On March 7, 2015, a groundbreaking ceremony for QIP in Brgy Kibleg, Upi, Maguindanao was held which was graced by JICA Vice President Mr. Toshiyuki Kuroyanagi, BTC Chairman Mohagher Iqbal and BDA Executive Director Dr. Mohamad S. Yacob.
