The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) with the support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program held consultation on Bangsamoro Baisc Law (BBL) on December 6, 2014 at the Silsilah Training Center, Barangay Valderosa, Isabela City.
The program was attended by religious leaders, representatives from local government unit, women, business group, local residents, Settlers and the academe.
Mr. Tirso Tahir of the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) was the invited speaker who lectured through power point presentation on the updates of the GPH-MILF Peace Process and the BBL. The following questions had been asked during the workshops:
1) What is your understanding of the GPH-MILF peace agreement?
2) What is your understanding of the envisioned Bangsamoro Government?
3) What is your understanding of the Bangsamoro Basic Law?
Ms. Cynthia Servantes, a teacher from Lamitan City gave this answer, “We hope that our expectations will be realized under the envisioned Bangsamoro in accordance with the draft BBL and Shari’ah for the Muslims”. “Peace and unity among Christians and Muslims is so important in order to attain peace and security and becomes possible through our support to BBL”, she further said.
In the open forum that ensued, Ms. Cervantes asked “Ano b gusto naming makita? “Gusto naming makita ay ‘free and fair’ election by 2016 without manipulations by politicians.
Mr. Tahir said that manipulations by some politicians can be avoided because local and international observers will monitor the election process in 2016 where MILF candidates will run for elective positions in the Bangsamoro.
Senior Police Officer Idjirani asked, “What will happen to the current police personnel and employees during the BTA period? “Will there be a revamp?
Mr. Tahir said that, “Only ARMM employees shall be affected on a gradual basis”.
During the delivery of messages of impression, the participants generally expressed appreciations in the flow of the program; the way the contents of the BBL were presented and discussed by the speaker.
