Army blames BIFF in grenade attack on military detachment in NorCot

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 9): Army blames BIFF in grenade attack on military detachment in NorCot

The military has blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in a grenade attack at an Army base in Pikit, North Cotabato Monday, an Army colonel Tuesday said.

Colonel Audie Edralin, commander of the 7th Infantry Battalion, citing investigation results, said the grenade attack on Majad Detachment in Barangay Poblacion Pikit, was part of the “grenade attack” campaign of the BIFF to get back at government forces for the losses they suffered during military offensives.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but the attack triggered panic among residents nearby.

Earlier, a village leader was hurt when suspected BIFF fired a rifle grenade toward his home on Saturday night.

Following the incident, Edralin appealed to the public to report any suspicious individuals riding tandem on motorbikes.

He also placed his men under heightened alert for “hit and run” attacks by suspected BIFF.
