The military has blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom
Fighters (BIFF) in a grenade attack at an Army base in Pikit, North
Cotabato Monday, an Army colonel Tuesday said.
Colonel Audie Edralin, commander of the 7th Infantry
Battalion, citing investigation results, said the grenade attack on Majad
Detachment in Barangay Poblacion Pikit, was part of the “grenade attack”
campaign of the BIFF to get back at government forces for the losses they
suffered during military offensives.
Nobody was hurt in the incident but the attack triggered
panic among residents nearby.
Earlier, a village leader was hurt when suspected BIFF fired
a rifle grenade toward his home on Saturday night.
Following the incident, Edralin appealed to the public to
report any suspicious individuals riding tandem on motorbikes.
He also placed his men under heightened alert for “hit and
run” attacks by suspected BIFF.
