JICA trains MILF agencies on development project management

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 9): JICA trains MILF agencies on development project management

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) and other agencies of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and non-government organizations on Tuesday finished a two-day training on project cycle management held at a hotel here.

The purpose of the training is to capacitate BDA and other participating organizations of skills on project management that will help in successful implementation of the program currently managed by the agency.

An agency of the MILF, the BDA determines, leads, and manages relief, rehabilitation and development projects in the conflict affected areas of Mindanao.

Presently, BDA is implementing five programs which are the Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program (MTF-RDP), Community Development in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM), Program for Local Economic Development through Enlightened Governance and Grassroots Empowered (PLEDGE), Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program (TCP) and the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) Formulation Project.

Through the training, it is expected that participants will earn knowledge and skills on the phases of project management such as problem and objectives analysis, structure of the project and the Project Design Matrix (PDM).

Kazuhiro Okamoto, Human Resource Development expert and consultant of JICA was the facilitator of the training.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting this two-day training as part of the Comprehensive Capacity Development Project for the Bansgsamoro (CCDP-B) under the Human Resource Development (HRD).

Other participants to the training are coming from Bangsamoro Leadership Management Institute (BLMI), Sajahatra Bangsamoro (SB), Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) and other non-government organizations (NGOs).

The organizations are helping the MILF as it prepares for assuming major roles in governing the Bangsamoro through the Bangsamoro government that will replace the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
