903rd Infantry Brigade now transporting evacuees back to their home

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 9): 903rd Infantry Brigade now transporting evacuees back to their home

The Sorsogon-based 903rd Infantry Brigade will now help in the transportation of evacuees back to their homes now that the threat posed by typhoon "Ruby" is over.

This is aside from distribution of relief goods and providing assessment on damages caused by "Ruby" on Sorsogon and Masbate.

About 57,901 families or 276,514 individuals were evacuated in Sorsogon while 20,040 families or 102,396 individuals were taken to safer ground in Masbate.

1st Lt. Clint Antipala, 903rd Infantry Brigade spokesperson, said that they demonstrated their readiness to help the community in times of disasters and calamities in Sorsogon and Masbate during Ruby"'s onslaught.

"Through the 903rd Infantry Brigade’s task-organized facility - the 903rd Disaster Response Task Group (903rd DRTG) under Major Lazaro Quigao, which is charged with responding to disasters and calamities in the Brigade AOR (area of responsibility), the Brigade had smoothly responded to Typhoon 'Ruby' with the effective employment of the 903rd DRTG’s three disaster response task units (DRTUs)," he added.

"The alertness of the 31st DRTU under Major Romeo Jimenea in Sorsogon, the Task Group Masbate DRTU under Major Armand Benito in Masbate and the 903rd DRTU under Capt. John Babia have resulted to zero death casualty in the two provinces, with only seven slightly wounded residents of Masbate province. The proactive deployment of disaster response teams (DRTs) under the DRTUs in disaster-prone areas was the key to speedy response. These were made possible due to the effective management undertaken by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (PDRRMCs) of Sorsogon and Masbate," Antipala stressed.
