The Fort Magsasay, Nueva Ecija-based Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) announced that it joining the rest of the nation in the celebration of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week (NHRCW).

This year's celebration has a theme of "Mamamayan at Pamahalaan Kapit Bisig sa Pagsulong ng Karapatan sa Kaunlaran".

Philippine observance of NHRCW started on Dec. 4 and will end on the 10th.

The AAR's celebration of NHRCW was highlighted with the “Panata sa Karapatang Pantao” of all of its officers and enlisted personnel, led by its chief-of-staff, Lt. Col. Nazarito A. Floresca II.

The oath was to remind the troops on its covenant and commitment in promoting and adhering to the protection of Human Rights.

“As we uphold the primacy of pursuing, protecting and preserving the peace process, we shall also treat all individuals with respect and dignity. It does not only entail those persons in your area of operations but to any human being including yourself, your family, your neighbors, friends, your colleagues, your girlfriend, wife, or your children,” Floresca said.

He also told 30 newly-recruited privates, who will be deployed to join the 8th Field Artillery Battalion in Western Mindanao, to know your rights and the rights of other people.

"Bear in your mind that the key action to achieve peace is respect. With respect comes along pure intention and modesty. Living life to its simplicity with happiness and peace of heart is the basic right we all deserve to have as human being. Let the force of peace and happiness radiates from within as we advocate peace and prosperity," Floresca added.
