From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 7): Soldier dies, 7 others hurt as two
military trucks collide in Maguindanao
A soldier died while seven others, including a civilian, were hurt as two Army
trucks collided head on Wednesday in Barangay Penguianman, Datu Odin Sinsuat,
Maguindanao.
Police Insp. Lendsy Sinsuat, Datu Odin Sinsuat town police chief, said a
military truck of the Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade (MIB) tried to
overtake another vehicle along a curve in Penguianman village around 9 a.m. when
it rammed the vehicle of the Army’s 6th Infantry Battalion (IB) that was
negotiating the opposite lane of the highway.
The incident instantaneously killed Corporal Frenan Jay Palos of the Army's
2nd MIB.... Accordingly, the soldiers were being deployed along the Cotabato-Maguindanao
highway for the turnover of command at the 6ID camp when the accident
occurred....
