At least 25 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) were hurt in a road accident in an east coast barangay in this city, a police official disclosed Wednesday. Police Station 2 commander Chief Insp. Ricardo Garcia said the accident occurred around 7 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Lubigan, 40 kms east of this city. Garcia said the victims were on board the one of the two contracted public utility jeepneys (PUJs) on the way home in this city coming from Pagadian City where they attended a convention on the GPH-MILF Framework Agreement. Investigation showed that the PUJ turned turtle and fell into a roadside ditch after its driver, Wahid Alih, 34, fell sleepy due to the long distance of travel and lost control of the steering wheel, Garcia said. He said Alih, who was among those injured, managed to jump before the vehicle fell into the ditch. The victims were rushed to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Barangay Quiniput, 44 kms east of this city and at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) located downtown, he said. The victims suffered bruises and bumps, he said.
