Gov't launches Bayanihan music video

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 28): Gov't launches Bayanihan music video

The government launched Wednesday a 3-minute-30-second music video which, officials said, would encourage Filipinos to work together and attain lasting peace. The lyrics, sung by recording artist and actress Sarah Geronimo, capture the Bayanihan Internal Peace and Security Plan of the Armed Forces (AFP). The lyrics -- part of which say "sama sama para sa Republika, kapayapaang may bigay na pag-asa" -- capture the message the government's Bayanihan spirit wants to convey. The launch at the Army Club House was made possible by the AFP, in cooperation with the Presidential Communications Operations Office, Optical Media Board, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, the National Telecommunications Commission, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, and the Manila Metropolitan Development Authority. The Bayanihan IPSP is a comprehensive plan that aims “to reduce internal armed threats to a level that they can no longer threaten the stability of the state, and civil authorities can ensure the safety and well-being of the Filipino people.” AFP Spokesman Col. Arnulfo Burgos, Jr. said the Bayanihan IPSP is different from the previous plans because the new one "focuses on winning the peace and highlights the role of the different stakeholders in society."

The PCOO has partnered with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas, private media organizations, and the Outdoor Advertising Association of the Philippines to show the new music video and air the song. PCOO Undersecretary Lesley Cordero said at the launch "it is not enough to tap the government mass media channels only for the showing of the video." She added: "We need to be able to reach out to more people and inspire them to contribute and get involved in the Bayanihan peace advocacy. "Kailangan mapanood ng mga nasa iba't-ibang probinsya ang MTV. This is a powerful and inspiring video that should go viral. We urge people who have seen the video to share it." She added: "We will use television, radio, LED boards, and social media platforms to share this video and encourage more young people to take part in the Bayanihan." The launch was led by the AFP Major Services Commanding Generals, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Jesse Dellosa and the DND Secretary Voltaire Gazmin. Officials from other government agencies were also present, along with stakeholders from non-government organizations and other civil society groups.
