From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 28): Philippine Navy frogmen in SEAGUL
2012 in Brunei Darussalam now back home
Philippine Navy (PN) frogmen who participated in the week-long joint Maritime
Training Activity (MTA) SEAGULL 05/12 at Muara Naval Base in Brunei Darussalam
with the Royal Brunei Navy are back in Palawan, Western Command (WESCOM) Lt.
Gen. Juancho Sabban told members of the press here.
Sabban said Wednesday that he personally welcomed the return of 150 navy
frogmen aboard BRP Artemio Ricarte (PS-37) and BRP General Mariano Alvarez
(PS-38) in Puerto Princesa, and was happy to be briefed that they fared well in
learning how to strengthen and maintain bilateral security and cooperation
relationships, inter-operability among them, uphold mutual understanding and to
bolster together the long-lasting relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the
Philippines.
Sabban lauded Commodore Alexander Lopez, commander of the Fleet Marines Ready
Force (FMRF), for successfully leading the Philippine Navy troops in doing the
MTA with their counterparts from The Royal Brunei Navy.
Specifically, both navies cooperated in doing Communications Exercise, Diving
Techniques and Procedures, Combined Practical Boarding, At-Sea Maneuvers, and
Gunnery Exercise.
“Although no material things were shared between the two navies, all who
participated worked hard to leave each other worthy experiences and learnings to
remember, which in effect boosted their morale,” Sabban said.
The WESCOM commanding general is confident that the navy participants are now
equipped with new aptitudes to be able to do their jobs well and protect the
territory of the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam.
The MTA SEAGULL 05/12 was done on November 19 and ended on November 25, 2012
in Brunei Darussalam.
