The militant group Bayan (Bagong Alyansang Makabayan) accused the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) of "interfering" in politics by fielding a representative to lodge a complaint against progressive partylist groups.... "We should ask why the AFP is interfering in the partylist system when it is supposed to be neutral?" Reyes asked.... But the AFP denied its hand in the complaint against Bayan Muna. AFP spokesman Col. Arnulfo Burgos stressed that the military does not participate in partisan politics. "Definitely that is not true. It’s very clear that the mandate of the AFP through our Constituton is to protect and defend the people and the state and it is not our policy to participate in partisan political activities," Burgos said....
