EASTMINCOM: Cdr EASTMINCOM participates in 1st anniversary of Davao del Norte insurgency-free status

Almerol, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), joined the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Davao del Norte in celebrating the first anniversary of the province's Insurgency-Free declaration at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex, Tagum City on June 13.

Sen. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" T. Go and Davao del Norte Gov. Edwin “Kuya Gov” I. Jubahib led the occasion together with Davao del Norte 1st District Representative Cong. Pantaleon D. Alvarez, 10th Infantry Division (10ID) Commander MGen. Jose Eriel M. Niembra, 1001st Infantry Brigade (1001Bde) Commander Col. Felix Ronnie B. Babac, 1003Bde Commander Col. Marion T. Angcao, Davao Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO) Director PCol. Antonio Alberio, and other officials.
Highlight in the ceremony was the awarding of cash aid worth P10,000.00 each to 40 Former Rebels (FRs) from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and P4,330.00 each to 18 FRs under the TUPAD program. In addition, 16 children in situations of armed conflict (CSAC) received school supplies.

Gov. Jubahib, along with Sen. Go and Cong. Alvarez also awarded a Plaque of Commendation to LtGen. Almerol "in grateful recognition of his immense contribution to make Davao del Norte an Insurgency-Free and Ready for Further Development Province."

In his message, the EastMinCom Commander urged the people of Davao del Norte to remain united in creating an inclusive environment for people to thrive and allow peace to prosper.

"As we move forward, let us not forget the lessons learned from this chapter of our history. Let us create an environment of inclusivity, understanding, and compassion so that no one feels marginalized or forced to take up arms. In this way, we can ensure that the seeds of peace we have sown today will blossom into a lasting legacy for generations to come," he said.

Meanwhile, Senator Go, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, commended the PLGU Davao del Norte and the security sector for sustaining the insurgency-free status of the province.

“This opens new doors of opportunity for economic growth, social development, and sustainable peace. It signifies the dawn of a brighter future where our people can thrive, our businesses can flourish, and our children can grow up in a safe and secure environment,” the Senator expressed.
