CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela: Army soldiers found four high-powered guns and assorted war items on Thursday, a day after they killed three alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) rebels in separate encounters in Cagayan and Kalinga provinces on Wednesday.Maj. Rigor Pamittan, 5th Infantry Division spokesman and division public affairs chief, said on Friday that the 501st Infantry Brigade soldiers found two M14 Armalite rifles, an M16 Armalite rifle and an M653 rifle on Thursday, a day after the encounter in Sitio Biguc, Barangay Alucao, Santa Teresita, Cagayan on Wednesday.
Also found were various ammunition, five magazines of M16 rifles, two handheld radios, two bandoliers, a power bank, a cooking pot, two backpacks, four cellular phones, three chargers, 11 SIM cards, and anti-government documents.
In Cagayan, two people were killed with one identified only as Alias Morga, a former student of a public university in Metro Manila.
The bodies were brought to a funeral home.
The clash lasted for an hour before the 20 members of the KomProb Cagayan and KomProb Isabela, Regional Committee-Cagayan Valley retreated to the southeastern direction and left behind their two dead comrades.
Pamittan said the suspected communists belong to the NPA's Isabela Provincial Committee and Cagayan Valley Regional Committee operating in the Cagayan area.
In Kalinga, an alleged member of the Larangang Guerrilla Baggas-Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee was killed and an M16 Armalite rifle was recovered at the encounter site on Wednesday, he added.
