CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 2 (PIA) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday received two units of Fire Pump Truck and two units of Ambulance handed over by a private global corporation in a ceremonial turnover at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
No less than the Secretary of the Department of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana received the donations from ENPlus Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of firetrucks in South Korea. He was assisted by the AFP Chief of Staff General Gilbert I. Gapay.
Meanwhile, EN Plus Co., Ltd. was represented by their President, YoungYong Ahn.
The company is global leader in the fields of energy, engineering, and environment that takes the lead in preserving new energy and environment in addition to the existing firefighting and environmental vehicle businesses.
A symbolic turnover of key was conducted to officially hand-over the donations which amount to Thirty Million Pesos if converted in cash.
“It truly inspires us to know that there are corporations out there such as yours who are thinking of the welfare of our soldiers and would willingly support us in multitude of ways,” Gapay said.
The donations are a big help for the AFP to respond should emergencies arise. General Gapay assured that they will be utilized and maximized according to their function. He also guaranteed the proper maintenance of the donations for a longer and successful usage.
Both Lorenzana and Gapay gave the donors a Plaque of Appreciation to show gratitude for their donations.
The AFP Chief of Staff said that this act of generosity from the donors is a good way to start the end of the year.
“It is an inspiring way to start off this month on a good note. We are hopeful and eager that with the help that you have extended us, the AFP can accomplish more in the name of faithful service to our nation and our people,” Gapay said. (PIA NCR)
