CAMP Siongco, Maguindanao – A novice soldier was killed while two others were injured in an Anti-Personnel Mine (APM) explosion in Barangay Salman, Ampatuan, Maguindanao at 7:15 in the morning of September 24, 2020.

Major General Juvymax Uy, Army’s 6th Infantry Division commander, said that the troops of 57th Infantry Battalion led by 2nd Lt. Larry Panghunasan were conducting a combat clearing operation against suspected members of a local terrorist group when one of them tripped on an APM.

The casualty is identified as Private Rodjin Macanas while the other two namely Cpl. Ebrahim Kudtig and PFC Dominic Agustin were wounded and are now being treated at a military hospital.

“Another soldier hero has offered his life and two others are wounded as a result of the relentless effort of the Joint Task Force Central to destroy the terror groups in Central Mindanao,” said Maj. Gen. Uy, JTFC Commander.

Troops under the Joint Task Force Central have been targeting the local terrorists in the area to prevent them from conducting bombing attacks within the vicinity of Central Mindanao.
