NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Sept. 26 (PIA)—Farmers organizations and government entities here denounced the atrocities and deceptions of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and its allies, while also declaring the group as persona non grata.

The Philippine Army, Philippine National Police and barangay officials recently conducted an oath of allegiance and burned the NPA flag at Brgy. Pilar, Hinigaran town, 303 Infantry Brigade Civil Military Officer Captain Kelvin Bayaban said.

Punong Barangay Benjamin Yulo of Brgy. Pilar led the Oath of Allegiance "Pagsumpa Para sa Kalinong" followed by "Panumpa Para sa Katutum sa Republika Nang Pilipinas" headed by 62 Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Melvin Flores.

Pastora Hope Biasca of Trinity Baptist Church spearheaded the candle lighting activity and led a candle lighting prayer calling for the end of the armed conflict caused by the communists.

Hinigaran Mayor Jose Nadie Arceo in his message said the people’s living condition will not progress if the evil doings of the terrorists are supported.

“If there's no peace, there's no progress and development. My office is always open to all your concerns, please don’t hesitate to come and approach me as I and our local agencies are willing to help you with your concerns,” he said.

Present during the activity were 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office Director Colonel Romy Palgue and representatives from the different local, provincial and national government offices.

Also present were Commanding Officer of 62 Infantry Batallion Lt. Colonel Melvin Flores, Commanding Officer of 2nd Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company Police Lt. Colonel Ryan Manongdo, Chief of Police of the town of Hinigaran Police Major James Latayon and Civil Military Officer of 62 Infantry Batallion Captain Raymund Jamisal.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte lauded the united efforts of the local farmers and LGU of Hinigaran in condemning Communist NPA terrorists in their area.

“We are one with other agencies, LGUs and even your local officials in extending our services for you. Help your government and condemn these NPAs and its allies. Don’t let them manipulate you for eventually they will destroy your lives, Colonel Pasaporte said. (JSC/Lljr/303IB-CMO/PA)
