September 25, 2020, Camp Bautista, Jolo, Sulu – Focused military operations and persistent support of local government units of Patikul and Talipao resulted to the surrender of two (2) Abu Sayyaf members under Radulan Sahiron. Sensing the pressure of Joint Task Force Sulu’s ground, air, and marine operations, Sawadjaan and Sahiron followers are crumbling and finding ways to submit to authorities.

In a report submitted by BGen Ignatius Patrimonio, Commander, 1102nd Brigade to BGen William Gonzales, Commander, JTF Sulu, alias Jepoy, 35 y/o, and Abu Omar, 26 y/o, yielded to Ltc Rafael Caido, CO, 6th SF Bn at 10:00 o’clock this morning bringing their M16 Rifle and M79 Grenade Launcher firearms; both surrenderees are residents of Patikul and Talipao, Sulu. Jepoy and Omar narrated that they were enticed by their former comrade, Amah Adin who surrendered last September 10, to leave the group and take advantage of the program offered by Patikul and Talipao Task Force ELACs headed by respective mayors.

For this week, a total of 10 ASG members give in to JTF Sulu. This substantial number of surrenderees destroyed the group of Idang Susukan and further weakens the group of Mundi Sawadjaan. Focused military operations are still ongoing in the general areas of Patikul, Talipao, and Indanan to pursue the escaping terrorists.

As we employ the full force of the Joint Task Force in finding the terrorists, we are also actively supporting the efforts of the Local Government of Sulu in operationalizing their respective Task Forces to accommodate the surrenderees in the localized social integration program.” – BGen William N Gonzales PA
