From the Philippine Information Agency (Sep 28, 2020): Agusan Norte opens halfway house for FRs, MBs (By TESDA Agusan del Norte)
BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 28 – The P10-million halfway house in the province of Agusan del Norte which is located within the compound of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, Philippine Army at Brgy. Bancasi, this city has been recently inaugurated.According to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Rey M. Cueva, the halfway house for the Former Rebels (FRs) and Milisya ng Bayan (MBs) is a project of the 2nd Congressional District of Agusan del Norte as well as the provincial government through the leadership of Congresswoman Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba and Gov. Dale B. Corvera, respectively.
“With the establishment of this infrastructure, TESDA supports the provincial government of Agusan del Norte by providing skills trainings as well as livelihood trainings to FRs and MBs,” Cueva added.
In a related development, Dir. Cueva said that the establishment of the P5-million Livelihood Training Center has already been started that is located beside the half-way house that will serve as a training venue. The project’s fund source is from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Cueva added.
Further, Dir. Cueva assured that TESDA-Agusan del Norte Provincial Office will facilitate the training center’s program registration as well as to provide scholarship slots.
During the activity, Cong. Amante-Matba, Gov. Corvera, and 402nd Brigade Commanding Officer BGen Maurito Licudine, and provincial heads of the different government agencies are among those who attended the inauguration ceremony.
These projects support the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), one of the flagship programs of the national government that seeks to address social healing and national unity towards the higher objective of having just and lasting peace. It aims to provide social equity to former members of the CPP-NPA-NDF and the Militia ng Bayan to reintegrate them into mainstream society. (Robert E.
