CAMP HERNANDEZ, Dingle, Iloilo.—The Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion while
conducting combat operations encountered more or less Seven (7) Communist
Terrorists Group (CTGs) at Barangay Atimonan, Janiuay, Iloilo on Saturday, August
8, 2020.

A tip-off from the civilian populace on the presence of NPAs in the area led to twenty minutes firefight.

The Communist terrorist group believed to be members of Baloy Platoon, Central Front, KR-Panay led by Andoy were conducting extortion and recruitment of minors in said barangay.

LTC Joseph Jason Estrada, Commanding Officer 12IB applauded the vigilance and the quick response of the operating troops that resulted to an encounter and the recoveries of one M16 rifle, one AK47, one carbine, ammunition, magazines, printer, subversive documents, detonating wires, rice, tester, hammock, boots, cooking pot, assorted propaganda materials, and other personal items.

There was no casualty on government troops, number of wounded terrorists were seen being dragged by their comrades during their withdrawal.
Brigadier General Marion R Sison PA, the Commander of the 301st Infantry
(Bayanihan) Brigade said that the communist terrorist are the virus and fear-mongers of the communities.

“They inflict fear to the society by doing extortions, forced recruitment of minors and killing of uncooperative and innocent civilians.

Recently, this terrorist group shot a minor in his left leg in Tacayan, Tapaz. The army assisted the family in the hospitalization of the victim.” said Sison.

“As I congratulate the 12IB troops for their vigilance in the performance of their duty to protect the people, I would like also to commend the constant support of the Janiuaynons to our soldiers by giving accurate and timely information,” Sison added
