3 MORE NPA REBELS DIED IN CLASH WITH ARMY IN ILOCOS SUR

Camp Aquino, Tarlac City- Following the reports made yesterday, August 08, 2020, three (3) more Communist NPA rebels died from the encounter with the troopers of 702ND Infantry Brigade (702IBde) in the vicinity of Brgy. Suagayan, Sta Lucia near Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

Cadavers of the Communist NPA rebels with their firearms consisting of four (4) M16 rifles, one (1) M14 rifles, one (1) carbine, and one (1) shotgun, live ammunition, two (2) Anti-personnel mines, and other war materials were recovered today, August 09, 2020, by 702nd IBde troops conducting clearing operations on the encounter site.

One (1) civilian was killed by the Communist NPA rebels as he was suspected as a military asset.

Five (5) soldiers were wounded from the encounter, and one (1) died as reported yesterday.

The Army troopers coordinated with the Local Government Unit of Ilocos Sur, and the police to further mitigate threats of the remaining NPA rebels who flee from the scene.
702nd IBde Commander, Brigadier General Audrey L. Pasia continues to lead the operating troops to ensure the safety of the civilians in the area.

We will not stop pursuing the remnants of this rebel group. Their atrocities and unlawful acts will stop, as we continue to perform our mandated task of securing our people.”

NOLCOM will continue to intensify its Law Enforcement Support Operations (LESO), in support of other concerned agencies and the community, to curtail and neutralize all threat groups in its area of operations.
