JOLO, Sulu –Three Tausug nurses took oath as newly enlisted personnel of Joint Task Force Sulu (JTFS) at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, Brgy. Busbus, Jolo, Sulu on June 01, 2020.
The Philippine Army had opened a Special Enlistment Program for Registered Nurses around the country in response to the call of the government to contain the COVID-19 disease. The JTFS started its recruitment last April 2020.

Private Khalid Navata, Private Imee Nizreen Sani Habur and Private Fatima Wanhar Mani Jal, newly recruited nurses, are assigned to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital as additional personnel to further assist in the COVID-19 facilities. They will be programmed to undergo Candidate Soldier Course to learn basic military knowledge, skills, and discipline.

Private Fatima Wanhar Mani Jal, registered nurse shared that it was her childhood dream to become a soldier but the call of medical profession came beforehand. After graduating from Ateneo de Zamboanga University last March 2018, she volunteered to work at a local hospital in the Municipality of Siasi, Sulu hoping to serve her fellow Tausugs. She took the chance of entering the military upon knowing about the recruitment. The two other newly recruited Personnel, Pvt Navata and Pvt Habur, also registered nurss, shared the same story. The creation of the 11ID within Sulu Province made their dreams to be fulfilled, they say.

Major General Corleto S. Vinluan Jr., Commander of 11th Infantry Division and JTFS appreciated the spirit of volunteerism rendered by the nurses amidst the pandemic. “Bilang mga nurses, kaisa namin kayo sa pagsagip ng buhay at pagpapa-ganda ng kalusugan ng ating mga kasundaluhan sa Sulu. Nagagalak kami na makasama kayo sa pagpapatupad ng kapayapaan dito sa ating bayan,” he said.
