CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao–Three members of terror group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) also surrendered to Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) yesterday morning (February 11) in Barangay Ladtingan,Pikit, North Cotabato.

The former BIFF members belonged to the group of Gani Saligan who surrendered to JTFC last February 3, 2019.

Continuing community dialogues by the personnel of 7th Infantry Battalion, Barangay Chairman of Barongis in Pikit town and former BIFF members who earlier surrendered have led to the recent surrender.

At 3:00 p.m., the surrenderers were formally presented to 7th IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. NielRoldan and Pikit Mayor HonorableSumulong Sultan at 7th IB Headquarters, Lower Paatan, Kabacan, NorthCotabato.

The surrenderers brought along with them one homemade M79 grenade launcher with 40mm high explosive ammo, one homemade 9mm sub-machine gun, and two complete sets of improvised explosive devices made of black powder.

“We were left demoralized and leaderless that we opted to surrender to the government,” said one the surrenderers.

JTFC Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon has expressed his gratitude to the former BIFF rebels who helped them convince their other comrades to surrender to the government.
