CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 14 (PIA) – At least 475 candidate soldiers have started their military training inside the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in Gamu town.
Maj. Noriel Tayaban, Division Public Affairs Office chief, said there will be three batches of the new candidate soldiers namely Classes 628, 629, and 630-2020.
Tayaban said the candidate soldiers will undergo four months of rigid military training on cross-training with Jungle Warfare and Mountain Operation Course (JWMOC) inside the camp's training school.
He said the candidate soldiers are composed of 249 from Cagayan Valley, 203 from Cordllera Administrative Region, and 23 from other regions in the country.
The formal start of military training of the candidate soldiers was witnessed by military officials and soldiers of the army division held at the camp's gransdstand.
Meanwhile, 5ID, PA commnader Maj. Gen. Pablo Lorenzo challenged the candidate soldiers to take the military training seriously as he said that they will turn them into good soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The candidate soldiers have went through regular application process before they were chosen to proceed with the military training inside the military camp's training school. (BME/MGE – PIA-2/Isabela)
