BURAUEN, Leyte, Dec. 14 (PIA) -- The Armed Forces of the Phillipines (AFP) will declare the Province of Leyte as insurgent-free next week.
This was announced by Major General Pio Q. Diñoso III, commander of the 8th Infantry Divion, Philippine Army, during the 30th Founding Anniversary of the 87th Infantry Batallion based in this municipality.
Diñoso lauded Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla for his leadership being a perfect example of good governance that paved the way for the eradication of insurgency in the province.
He likewise congratulated the military officers and men in the province for this achievement.
As of today, out of the 32 municipalities and cities under the jurisdiction of the 78IB, all have already activated their Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC) except for one, La Paz, Leyte. (LDL/CBA/PIA-8)
