TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 14 -- The latest report from the Police Regional Office 8 states that it has recorded three fatalities, and 15 hurt, including civilians and children on the treacherous attack of more or less 50 suspected Communists-Terrorists Group (NPAs) on December 13, 2019, in Brgy. Libuton, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The report said seven personnel of the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (ESPMFC) based in Brgy. Lunang, Dolores, Eastern Samar were waylaid by the armed rebels at around 3 p.m., while on their way to the provincial headquarters based in Borongan.

PRO 8 identified Pat Mark Jerome Rama y Sugalan as Killed-in-Police Operation (KIPO). It was learned that victim PO Rama is just newly married having celebrated his wedding only last Nov. 23, 2019.

Furthermore, Pat Angelito J Loterte of Hilongos, Leyte suffered from left leg injury; Pat Rick Capoquian Jr. y Esponilla, Northern Samar with right eye injury; Pat Rey Sobrepenia y Godes, Eastern Samar with head injury; Pat Kevin Operario y Jatulan, Eastern Samar, was seriously wounded; while Pat Christian Godino and Pat Michael Frank M Pajanustan were left unharmed.

Meanwhile, 11 civilians were injured, namely: Jacob Chicano, 35 years old, a resident of Brgy. 3 Taft, Eastern Samar; Marrian Esposa y Jebulan, 20 years old, a resident of Brgy. 2 Taft, Eastern Samar; Carlito Esposa y Baldos, 65 years old, a resident of Brgy. Bugas, Borongan City; Mark Balayanto Cantos y Adona, 18 years old, a resident of Brgy. Lunang, San Julian, Eastern Samar; Florence Traboco y Avilla, 39 years old, and a resident of Brgy. San Isidro San Julian, Eastern Samar; Mary Grace Rapada, 44 years old, a resident of San Isidro, San Julian Eastern Samar; Ma. Lilisania Obina, 34 years old, a resident of Campesao, Borongan City; Hector Lemer Obina, 35 years old, also a resident of Campesao, Borongan City; and three minors ages 1, 6 and 13 years old.

Agripena Traboco y Avilla, 69 years old, and a resident of Brgy. San Isidro, San Julian, Eastern Samar, and Anthony Balayanto Y Docena, 50 years old, and resident of Taft, Eastern Samar were declared dead on arrival (DOA) at the hospital by the attending physician.

The wounded PNP members and civilians were brought to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.

The crime scene was processed through the coordinated efforts of Borongan CDRRMO, ESPPO and Borongan CPS about 12:45 a.m. of December 14, 2019.

After which, the retrieval operation of the Patrol Car used by the 1st ESPMFC was conducted. Said vehicle is now at the custody of ESPPO Hqs for safekeeping.

“I am encouraging the public to be more vigilant and to continue in helping the authorities in condemning such treacherous attack to wreak havoc in the region and to stop unlawful killings of the civilians.” RD Ferdinand Divina said.
