DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 15 (PIA) - Government and civic sector services have continued to pour in the Ata-Manobo village of Tapayanon, located at the tri-boundary of Davao del Norte, Bukidnon and Agusan del Sur.
The 60th Infantry Battalion yesterday wrapped up the fourth leg of interagency outreach activity benefiting 156 Ata Manobo families based on the latest updating of the Listahan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI.
Reachable only through a helicopter, the Village of Tapayanon was discovered in February this year when troopers of the 60th Infantry Battalion were in pursuit of armed members of the New Peoples Army (NPA). Having noted of the dire need for services among residents of the Village, the 60th IB interagency delivery of various government services.
Civil Military Operations officer, 1LT Amadeus Vincent John Celestial recalled that the earlier tranches of multi-agency services delivery happened in July and in September. The close series of multi-services sortie was conducted on November 10 to 12 and on November 12 to 13.
Dubbed as Sitio Tapayanon Whole-of-Nation Service Convergence Camp, the November 10 to November 14 multi-agency service delivery generated the participation of civil sector organizations particularly the One Heart for Hope, Quota International, Rotary Club of Tagum and Jaycees International (JCI) of Davao.
The first leg of the event pulled together the services of Kapalong Municipal Health Office-Rural Health Unit (MHO-RHU), DSWD Listahan, Kapalong District Department of Education Alternative Learning System (DEPED ALS), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Davao del Norte Provincial Information Communication Management Office (PICKMO) while the National Anti Poverty Commission (NAPC) sent a representative.
Joining the second batch were the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) XI, the Davao del Norte provincial offices of the National Indigenous People’s Commission (NCIP), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
Forming part of the second batch were Kapalong Municipal Offices of Indigenous People’s Representative, the Municipal Agriculture (MAGRO) and the Municipal Local Registrar (MCR). The Municipal Health Office and DSWD Listahan pushed through the fourth day until Nov 14 their respective services.
Overseeing the entire run of the Whole of Nation Convergence for Sitio Tapayanon, Celestial expressed optimism that network of services will continue especially now that the Ata-Manobo residents of Tapayanon have gained receptiveness of the government.
“Nahirapan tayo sa una but in consultation with various government agencies, nagkaroon tayo ng program na mas madali nilang i-adopt,” he said noting of the positive response of national line agencies to the call to deliver services to secluded village of Tapayanon.
