Community support activity in Talaingod culminates with dialogue

From the Philippine Information Agency (Oct 4, 2019): Community support activity in Talaingod culminates with dialogue  (By 56th Infantry Battalion)

TALAINGOD, Davao del Norte – Community members of Sitio Naputlakan in Barangay Sto. Nino had a dialogue with the 56th Infantry Battalion as the military culminated its Community Support Program (CSP) activity on October 01.

Discussed during the dialogue were efforts of the various government agencies and the local government unit (LGU) of Talaingod in making Sitio Naputkalan a peaceful and conflict-resilient community.

The dialogue served as the highlight in culminating the CSP rolled out by the 56th Infantry “Tatag” Battalion, under the leadership of Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Norman Valdez, in cooperation with the local government unit (LGU) and agencies of Talaingod.

Lt. Col. Valdez expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government Office of Davao del Norte, LGU Talaingod, Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO), Talaingod Municipal Police Station (MPS), non-government organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders of Talaingod for their trust and support to the CSP Team deployed in Sitio Naputkalan.

The 56IB deployed CSP team in Sitio Naputkalan on June 21, 2019 to identify primary issues and concerns of the lumad community and to address such issues thru the convergence of the local government under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

The deployment of a CSP team was one way of bringing the government closer to the people, particularly in areas where government services seldom reach the people.

Civil Military Operations Officer (CMO) Capt John Louie Dema-ala during the dialogue noted the culmination as just the “beginning of community unity to achieve a peaceful and progressive Naputlakan”.

“Ang inyong kasundaluhan sa 56th IB ay hinding-hindi magsasawa upang maging tulay ninyo upang iparating sa kinauukulan ang inyong mga magandang ninanais tungo sa ikabubuti ng nakararami at nang ating komunidad. (Your soldier of thr 56th IB won’t be bored of serving as a bridge to connect with concerned your aspirations for the welfare of the majority members of our community),” he said

The CSP is in line with the Development Support and Security Plan “KAPAYAPAAN” of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to conduct Development Support Operations, sustain the peace, ensure security and help maintain public order to foster the foundation for economic and human development.
