WESTMINCOM: No. of PMA walk-in applicants high despite “militarization” clamor

Posted to the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Aug 27, 2019): No. of PMA walk-in applicants high despite “militarization” clamor

The number of PMA walk-in applicants is relatively high despite militarization clamors and protests against the proposed military presence in state universities and colleges.

At least 500 out of 1000 who took the PMA entrance exam at Western Mindanao Command headquarters on August 25 were walk-in applicants, according to the PMA.

“Clearly, the protests against the proposed military presence in state colleges and universities do not represent the majority view. We are confident that the student population is on our side,” said WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.

“As a proud product of the PMA, I am also elated to see that many of our youngsters are interested to join the prestigious academy, a premiere institution in molding responsible military leaders,” he added.

PMA cadets will earn, through full government scholarship, a Bachelor of Science degree and will be commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants or Ensigns in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Successful applicants will compose the PMA Class 2024 and will take their oath on June 1, 2020.
