CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The full support of the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) backed with the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division’s Community Support Program (CSP) induced the dissociation of 396 New People’s Army (NPA) members and supporters with 11 assorted firearms from the different towns of Surigao del Norte last July 4, 2019.
The surrenderees are composed of 37 Sangay sa Partido Lokal (SPL) or local party members, 46 Militia ng Bayan (MB), 146 Underground Mass Organization (UGMO) members and 167 mass supporters. They surrendered to the CSP Teams of the 30th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col Allen Tomas and Malinomo Mayor Wallace Senaca.
Maj Gen Franco Nemesio M Gacal, Commander of the 4th ID, said, “I thank the LCEs of Surigao del Norte, particularly Mayor Senaca of Malimono, for the unwavering support they have provided to our “Peaceful War”. Our convergence efforts ended up with more members and mass supporters of the NPA denouncing the local communist movement, thus hastens the disintegration of the communist terrorist group.” “We must continue with our unified efforts especially in addressing the root causes of insurgency in order to attain inclusive and sustainable peace and development in Regions 10 and CARAGA”, Gacal ended.
