Aggressive drive vs. NPA ordered

From the Visayan Daily Star (Jul 8, 2019): Aggressive drive vs. NPA ordered

The 94th Infantry Battalion, a unit recently added to the forces of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, was ordered yesterday to continue to be aggressive in running after the New People’s Army to prevent itfrom further committing terroristic activities.

Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, also reiterated his order for them to attack the NPA before they are attacked by them.

The 94th Infantry Battalion is now focusing its efforts on the 1st district of Negros Oriental, following the realignment of forces and operational boundaries of the two Army Infantry Brigades in Negros Island on July 1.

Arevalo, who visited yesterday the 94IB headquarters in Brgy. McKinley, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, said that the infantry unit was already a significant contributor to the accomplishment of his brigade unit.

The 94IB, that used to be responsible for the security of the whole province of Negros Oriental, that was formerly supervised by the 302nd Infantry Brigade.

Arevalo, who used to be assigned in Guihulngan City, while he was still an Army captain, thanked the 94IB for its contribution to the success of the overall campaign of the Army in Negros.

It is very important that the 94IB accomplishes its tasks in Negros Oriental in order that the other battalions - 15IB, 62IB and 79IB, can make Negros Occidental peaceful.” Arevalo stressed.

The 15IB stationed in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, and the newly-arrived 11th Infantry Battalion are now under the operational control of the 302nd Infantry Brigade led by Brig. Gen. Ignacio Madriaga, whose area of jurisdiction covers the whole southern portion of Negros island.

Arevalo said that he was happy to finally meet and receive the 94IB as the newest battalion of 303rd Infantry Brigade in the fight against the CPP-NPA-NDF.

The 303rd Infantry Brigade now covers the 1st to 5th Districts of Negros Occidental and 1st District of Negros Oriental with 3 battalions - the 62IB, 79IB and 94IB, with the rest of Negros under the 302nd Infantry Brigade.
