The victim identified as Ronnie Ortuoste, 45, and his wife, Vilma, were on their way home, when they were waylaid by four unidentified armed suspects.
Without any reason, the victim was shot by one of the four, who failed to hit him. While trying to flee, Ortuoste, a former BPAT member, was met by three other suspects, who took turns in shooting him.
Initial police investigations showed that the victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and died on the spot.
His wife, however, was spared by the armed suspects, who were described to be in their early 20s.
Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, yesterday said they are still validating reports that the suspects may have been NPA members, adding that the victim was involved in the killing of his relative in 2017.
The shooting incident is still being investigated by the Moises Padilla Police Station.
