Posted to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Website (Feb 4): KPI Conducts Peace Forum in Rajah Buayan
Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute (KPI) conducted a whole day peace forum with the theme: “Understanding and Supporting the Bangsamoro Peace Process, and the Bangsamoro Basic Law 2017” on February 3, 2017 in Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao.
Kagi Anok, popularly known for his pseudonym Commander Bagi-Bagi of the MNLF during his time, said “We aggressively fought against the ILAGA to protect ourselves, property, religion and communities. That fight known as kinadtimbaka sa wato (Battle of Wato) is a memorable place where many Bangsamoro were martyred.”
“Even if we are in the most remotest area of Maguindanao, we also dream that someday our aspiration for long lasting peace in Mindanao will be achieved,’’ a prominent commander added.
Khairudin Anwar, one of the organizers told the participants that “Whatever kind of conflict in this world, the best way, and means to resolve it is through negotiation.”
Abdul Aziz Talib, member of Board of Trustees of KPI, said “We will push for the passage of Bangsamoro Basic Law, a legal document that could address the clamor of the Bangsamoro for right to self-determination as it will establish the Bangsamoro new Political Entity.”
Prof. Esmael A. Abdula, President of Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute (KPI), and BLMI Training Officer explained the essence of understanding the history of the Moro Legitimate Struggle in Mindanao to end armed conflict in Mindanao.

“Addressing the Moro Historical Injustices through enacting into law the Bangsamoro Basic Law crafted by the expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission is the ultimate solution to the Bangsamoro Problem, thereby achieving lasting peace in Mindanao”, Abdula emphasized.
“It is the Philippine Government’s unilateral responsibility to pass the BBL to prevent further rise of violent extremism in Mindanao”, Abdula further said.
MILF Political Committee, BIAF senior, and field commanders, women sector, religious sector and MNLF Commanders attended the peace forum.
