BULDON, Maguindanao (DWDD) – Eighty-eight (88) assorted firearms were surrendered by Iranun residents of the Municipality of Buldon, Parang, Matanaog and Barira in Maguindanao during a Turn-Over Ceremony in Barangay Dinganen, Buldon, Maguindanao.



According to Major General Arnel Delavega, Commander, Joint Task Force Central, their surrender of the said weapons is part of the “Balik Baril” Program of the Local Government Unit of Buldon, Maguindanao led by the “Iranun” Inter-Agency Task Force (IIATF) together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Gen. Delavega praised the IIATF, which is under the supervision of the 37th Infantry Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Florencio Politud in the success of the campaign against loose firearms in Central Mindanao.

According to Western Mindanao (WestMinCom) Commander Lt Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr, the surrender of the loose firearms will help lessen the incident of “Rido’s” or clan wars and terrorism particularly in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.

In all, a total of 373 loose firearms were recovered by the different Joint Task Forces under the Western Mindanao Command, from January 1 until February 27, 2018. With this number, 192 arms were surrendered under the JTF Zamboanga, 52 under the JTF Sulu, 30 from the JTF ZamPeLan, and 99 under the JTF Central. JTF CENTRAL / MCAG
