CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City (DWDD) – 96 individuals will be joining the noble profession of arms as they take their oath as the AFP’s promising peace advocates. The activity was conducted in Headquarters 4th Infantry Division, Patag Cagayan de Oro City at 4:00pm today.

These 96 candidate soldiers are composed of 87 males and 9 females whom had underwent series of stages of the selection process such as qualifying examinations that tested their mental and physical ability to prove their worth as finest from the poll of aspirants to join the Army. After taking their oath, they will be undergoing the rigors of Basic Military Training to help them transform from their carefree civilian life to fine grown military men and women. Their training will be conducted in a six-month duration covering skills and knowledge not only in combat fighting but also in life-saving imperatives, disaster response operation, peacekeeping initiatives, Human Rights, Rule of Law, and Rule of Engagement.

In addition, these new breed of peace advocates will fill up the needed number of personnel due to attrition such as optional and compulsory retirement, and other causes. They will also continue the efforts of their predecessor in devoting their lives in the pursuit for peace.

MGen Benjamin R Madrigal Jr, Commander 4ID, said “Today is your oath-taking and we presume that each and every one of you came here in your own will and is ready to be of service to the country”.

“I have great faith in each one of you. The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division will support you in your future undertakings, as you also help accomplish our mission to win the Peace in this side of the country and to fulfill our vision that by 2028, we will be a world-class army that is a source of national pride.”, MGen Madrigal added. 4DPAO / MCAG
