While there are no security threats detected in line with
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's first ever State-of-the-Nation-Address (SONA)
Monday, military units tasked to augment police security efforts for the event
will be placed on red alert by midnight.
This was declared by AFP Joint Task Group-National Capital
Region acting commander Col. Vic Tomas on Sunday.
He added that this is a routine matter to prevent security
forces from getting complacent.
Tomas said the same security precautions will be taken and
the difference in this year's SONA is that coordination has been done early
with militant groups regarding a designated area where they can conduct their
protest actions.
The proposed area is to be near the House of
Representatives, he added.
Activation of the proposed area will take place by Monday.
