The Philippine Navy (PN) has allocated the sum of
PHP27,365,752.42 for the machinery, electrical and other related repairs of the
BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS-36) which is considered one of the most modern
vessels in its fleet.
Winning bidders are required to complete the service within
100 calendar days.
Pre-bid conference is on Friday, 8 a.m. at the Office of the
PN Bids and Awards Committee, Naval Station Jose Francisco, Fort Bonifacio ,
Taguig City , said PN BAC Secretariat head Cmdr.
Pablo O. Fuentebella in a bid bulletin posted at the Philippine Government
Electronic Procurement System.
The BRP Apolinario Mabini is considered one of the most
modern ships in the PN. Her sister ships are the BRP Artemio Ricarte and BRP
Emilio Jacinto.
All three ships are former Peacock class vessels of the
Royal Navy acquired by the PN in 1997.
She is armed with the Oto Melara 76 mm Compact DP, the
ships' primary weapon, has a range of up to 10 nautical miles (20 km) and can
be used against ships, aircraft or off and on-shore ground targets.
It is remotely controlled from within the Combat Information
Center by the gunnery
officer and has no crew within the gun itself.
The gun can fire 80 rounds in 60 seconds without reloading
its magazine. The ship has load capacity for up to 450 rounds.
BRP Apolinario Mabini has a maximum speed of 25 knots.
