63RD IB tops 8th ID Squad Challenge 2016

From the Philippine Information Agency (Jul 18): 63RD IB tops 8th ID Squad Challenge 2016

The 63rd Infantry Battalion based in Lope de Vega town, Northern Samar topped the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division, Philippine Army Squad Challenge last week.

The event lasted for five days where the awarding coincided with the flag retreat ceremony in July 15, 2016.

Rifle squads from the 14th Infantry Battalion (Avenger); 20th Infantry Battalion (We Lead); 43rd Infantry Battalion (We Search)  ; 63rd Infantry Battalion (Innovator);78th Infantry Battalion (Warrior);87th Infantry Battalion (Hinirang); and the three Division Reconnaissance Companies (DRCs) competed against each other.

The different squads were challenged in individual readiness, battle drills, formation and movement techniques, disaster and rescue operations, and Bayanihan Team Activities.

The 63rd IB bagged the top award as it was declared as the best rifle squad.

The command also gave awards to the  Best Squad in individual readiness to the Charlie Company, of the 63rd IB.

The Best Squad in formation and movement Techniques was awarded to the Charlie Company, of the 87th IB.

Charlie Company of the 63rd IB garnered the best squad in battle drills.

“This Squad Challenge is a test of our skills and collective effort to adopt in real combat situations,” said the message of Major General Jet B Velarmino, the 8th ID Commander.
