From the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Jun 24): Abu Sayyaf frees Filipina hostage
The Abu Sayyaf Group on Friday released Marites Flor, the Filipino kidnapped with three foreigners on Samal Island in September last year.
Citing initial information, a report by Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Flor was brought to the house of Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan after being freed Friday morning.
As of 12 noon, Flor is in the custody of Joint Task Force Sulu for medical checkup, according to Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Maj. FIlemon Tan.
Flor is the girlfriend of Canadian Robert Hall, who was beheaded by the bandits last week after the deadline for his ransom expired. Another Canadian hostage, John Ridsdel, was beheaded in April.
Flor was kidnapped with Hall, Ridsdel and Norwegian resort manager Kjartan Sekkinstad from a marina on the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte in September last year.
