Three suspected New People's Army rebels were killed while two Army soldiers were wounded following a clash in Sorsogon province early Wednesday morning, a military statement said.
A statement from the Army's 9th Infantry Division said around 5:40 a.m., elements of the 31st Infantry Battalion engaged 15 insurgents at Sitio Baybay in Barangay Tinago in Juban town.
The rebels were reportedly headed by Andres Hubilla alias Magno/Bunso/Carlo, the statement said.
It added that government troops also recovered three high-powered firearms, two laptops, IT equipment, backpacks and other personal belongings from the rebels.

The NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines. Formal peace negotiations with the communist group have remained stalled since April 2013.
