From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 21): 3 rebels killed, 2 soldiers hurt in Sorsogon clash

Three New People's Army (NPA) rebels were killed while two soldiers from the 31st Infantry Battalion were wounded during a clash in Juban town, Sorsogon Wednesday.

The encounter between government forces and 15 NPA fighters took place at 5: 40 a.m.in Sitio Baybay, Barangay Tinago, Juban town of the said province.

Capt. Clint Antipala, 903rd Infantry Brigade spokesperson, said the rebels were headed by one Andres Jubilla

Three high-powered firearms, two laptops, IT equipment, seven backpacks with personal belongings and subversive documents were recovered in the encounter site.

Antipala said government troops were conducting security operation to ensure the safety of the civilian doctors and other stakeholders participating in the so-called medical, optical, legal and dental (MOLD) mission in Barangay Pili and other nearby communities of Magallanes town, Sorsogon when they encountered the rebel force.

In the issuing encounter, three of the rebels were killed and two troopers were wounded.

The NPAs quickly retreated after sustaining this heavy loss.

The MOLD mission are being conducted by the 903rd Infantry Brigade and partner stakeholders such as UNTV, Kamanggagawa Foundation Inc. and “Ang Dating Daan” of Brother Ely Soriano.
