Philippine Air Force (PAF) units conducted aerial
reconnaissance and assessment of areas battered by Typhoon "Lando,"
discovering much damage Tuesday.
"Two Sokol helicopters of the 505th Search-and-Rescue
Group piloted by Capts Ombao, Sadama, and 1st Lt. Rengel and Solano proceeded
to Baler, Aurora and two UH-1Ds piloted by Major David, Capts Cervantes and
Palisoc and 1st Lt. Belen and Ronquillo over the areas of Camiling, Tarlac and
Bayambang, Pangasinan but was unable to proceed to Wallace, La Union due to bad
weather enroute," PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya said.
The extend of damage, especially to crops, were seen during
the overflight.
Aside from this, teams from the 600th Air Base Wing of the
1st Air Division and Philippine Coast Guards were sent to barangays Sta Isabel
and Bagong Sikat, both of Cabiao, Nueva Ecija to distribute assorted relief
goods using their rubber boats.
