A video showing three people, believed to be the two Coast Guard men and a village chief in Zamboanga del Norte abducted on May 4 by the Abu Sayyaf, is going viral. In it, one of the men, a knife pointed at his neck, is heard making a plea for help.

The man addressed his plea to the "pamahalaan [government] and then addressed President Benigno S. Aquino III by name, as well as Coast Guard chief Rodolfo Isorena, and finally, "lahat ng makakapanood nito [everyone who gets to watch this]."

The captive said, "President Aquino, tulungan mo kami.  Sir Isorena, tulungan mo kami. Papatayin kami nila. Maawa ka sa amin [Please help us. They will kill us. Please have pity on us]."

The Coast Guard's spokesman, Cmdr. Armand Balilo, confirmed that the men in the video, seen naked from the waist up, were from the Coast Guard, and the third is Robert Bulagao, the barangay chairman of Bgy. Aligoy, Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte, whose house was raided by the Abu Sayyaf last May 4.

The PCG men, identified as Seaman 1st Class Allan Pagale and Seaman 2nd Class Gringo Villaruz, were part of a team deployed to the area last summer, to help in peace and order duties as tourists were coming in droves.

It was barangay chief Bulagao who opened his house for the PCG men to stay in. During their tour of duty there, however, the ASG entered Bulagao's house on May 4, and seized all three men. They were not heard from until the video with the plea for help  became viral.

Balilo said the Coast Guard is now coordinating with the families of the captives, as well as with the National Police and the military.

Balilo explained that while the government maintained a no-ransom policy, everything possible was being done to secure the safe release of the three men.
