The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is more than
willing to help the Philippine National Police in implementing the arrest
warrants, which will be issued by the courts, against members of the Bangsamoro
Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) implicated in the Jan. 25 encounter in
Mamasapano town, Maguindanao which claimed the lives of 44 Special Action Force
members.
"We just follow the laws of our country , if the
warrants will be issued by the courts, its (incumbent) on the part of the AFP
to assist the PNP in the enforcements of the warrants of arrest," AFP
spokesperson Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala said.
He made this statement based on MILF vice chair for
political affairs Ghadzali Jaafar comments that they will not be surrendering
any of their men who participated in the Jan. 25 encounter which also resulted
in the neutralization of Malaysian bomb-maker Zulkipli bin Hir alias
"Marwan".
"Both the GRP (Government of the Philippines )
Panel and the MILF will sort out that problem," he added.
Kakilala also said that there are several techniques and
tactics on how to implement and to enforce the warrants of arrest without
going, creating major conflict between government forces and the MILF.
The Department of Justice earlier announced that it has
identified 90 members of the MILF, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters along
with private armed groups as participants in the bloody encounter.
