From Ang Malaya (Apr 17): AFP welcomes new BIFF leader with criminal case
The Armed Forces of the Philippines welcomes the new leader of bandit group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters with criminal case. BIFF’s new leader Esmael Abu Bakar alias Kumander Bungos led the attack on army’s temporary position last night.
The bandit group used 40mm M-203 grenade launchers wounding five troopers at around 7pm of Thursday at Barangay Pagatin, Datu Salibo in Maguindanao. The group also conducted an attack Wednesday night.
General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. already directed Philippine Army 6th Infantry Division commander General Edmundo Pangilinan to file a criminal case against Esmael Abu Bakar who was responsible for series of attacks against government troops in Maguindanao.
He also urged the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to help the government forces in flushing out the BIFF who are spoiling the peace process in Mindanao.
Western Mindanao Command will continue to conduct security patrols and maintain its presence in former BIFF camps.
