The military on Thursday said it has released the live-in partner of communist leader Roy Erecre after the couple was arrested Wednesday in Davao City.

“Judith Jaron-Niog, live-in partner of Roy Erecre, was released after the apprehending officers found no basis to further hold her,” said Capt. Alberto Caber, spokesman of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom).

Agents of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection group (CIDG) nabbed the duo allegedly while on island-hopping trip around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Caber said Erecre, alias Toto/Pasyong, is secretary general of the Central Visayas Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

He said Erecre was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by a court. He did not elaborate.

Erecre was brought to the headquarters of the Armed Forces’ Central Command (Cencom) in Cebu City.

Based on the list provided by Caber, confiscated from Erecre were P352,000 cash, Nokia cellular phone, 16GB flash drive USB, and assorted documents and receipts.

Erecre’s arrest followed the arrest of other high-ranking leaders of the CPP-NPA.
