From the MILF Website (May 8): Tawi-Tawi residents join “walk-for-peace” in Bongao

People of Tawi-Tawi representing various ethnic groups but mostly from the Sama tribes; MILF members and supporters staged a “Walk-for-Peace” on May 4 at the DepEd Compound, Poblacion Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

The participants comprising more than three (3) thousand people paraded around downtown and called for the early passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) by the Philippine Congress.

The activity was highlighted by a simple programme with speakers emphasizing the significance of the walk-for-peace in support to the call of various sectors in Mindanao for Congress to deliberate and enact the BBL as soon as possible.

The walk-for-peace was simultaneously held with peace rallies of the same purpose held in various cities and towns in Mindanao. Similar rally was also held at the vicinity of Batasan Complex in Quezon City where the House of Representatives building is located.
