Grenade explodes in house in Basilan province

From the Mindanao Examiner (Apr 2): Grenade explodes in house in Basilan province

Police said an unidentified man exploded a grenade at a house in Lamitan City in the troubled province of Basilan in the Muslim autonomous region in Mindanao.

Police said the assailant targeted the house of Rose Tauto, but no one was hurt in the attack which occurred late Tuesday in the village of Tinambakan. It said the attacker fled on a motorcycle driven by another man.

No individual or group claimed responsibility for the blast and police are still investigating the motive of the attack.

It was unknown whether the assault was connected to family feud or clan war which is not uncommon in Basilan where the proliferation of illegal weapons is still a big problem to authorities.

There was no immediate statement from Mayor Rose Furigay about the attack.
